There are some rather large stones rather high up on that right hand building. Those Cornishmen must have been rather strong!

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

Yes they used to film it sometimes where #1 is (we were told by a chatty and proud local). :-D

The first one is another shot of Levant Mine near Cape Cornwall (interstingly the only 'cape' in England I understand).

Below the chimney there is apparently a chamber where arsenic condensed as a by-product of the tin smelting. Arsenic was valuable and we were told that when miners became too old to go down the mine they were employed to scrape the arsenic off the walls. No pensions back then.

The second photo is Wheal Prosper on Rinsey cliffs. They filmed some of 'Poldark' there, I remember walking past years ago when it was part of a film set.

Those are great pictures. I have read about the tin mines, but up until now I had not seen and photos of the area and mines.

Great photos folks, they remind me Bosigran where I used to go rock climbing, there was a similar looking structure nearby.

Many happy memories of gorgeous Cornish sunshine and good weather.:-)

Cheers

Dennis

Magnificent countryside, very well-captured !

Thanks for sharing these. I hope to visit that part of the UK someday - haven't seen Poldark, but I love Doc Martin ! :-)

I'm mainly here for the snacks
