Trying to capture the emptiness of downtown Fort Worth right now. This is usually a very busy area. There was one Taxi parked at the end of the street, which I edited out, hopefully not too terribly.

Please be honest.

I wonder if this might work more effectively as a black and white. I say this not as a big fan of monochromatic images. See what you think. You might have to lighten up the buildings on the sides for this to work, however.

One other observation: by editing out the taxi, the shot is no longer a doc shot -- meaning a journalistic image. In years to come, it could have historic merit. It's something to think about. Another consideration is that a lone taxi also makes a statement about emptiness. Or you might have waited for it to drive away.

Like it works for me tells the story.I love empty road shots I would left the taxi also with the street that empty and side walks think it would of helped with the impact of the shot. And i would take a shot from joedlh about the black and white also that might look really good also.:)

I like it... but unlike others....the total emptiness to me fails to tell a story. I think a lone pedestrian would have better illustrated the soledad mood. Empty versus lonely/alone. Anyway.... like that you didn't let the sun blowout the hot spots in the sky. Well done.

Knowing why it's like that, and looking at it from that angle, I think your photo drives the message home. So if that was your intention you nailed it. Nice work!

What I've struggled with is trying to come up with an image that tells this story. I get what you camptured here. My issue for myself is I used to go out shooting early Sunday mornings, and empty streets were super common, hence why I liked it.

Like mentioned above, "knowing what we know - it is easy to put this image in context". But in 10 years, will someone go "I bet this was when......" . Not critiquing the image at all. I like it. But for myself, I've been trying to come up with a photo that tells the story of today. I have some.... but still haven't figured out "that" image yet.

It is fine picture. Almost, technically. But it is kind of empty. I don't feel the message. Image like this could be taken early morning on any day, not just special days like these.

I think trying to tell the story with one photo that would cause someone ten years from now to say, "I bet this was when......" , would be really difficult without being somewhere like New York City, " the town that never sleeps". I live in a mostly rural area in Southwest Missouri and there's no way I could come up with anything remotely close to telling this story. If I took you for a drive around here it's almost business as usual. It would however, be interesting to see some photos from other places so please post.

Thanks,
Harry
