I presently have the Canon 16-35 2.8 II and I've been happy enough with it. My interests include landscapes and astrophotography.

I would like something a little wider. I have the 24-70 2.8 II so don't mind sacrificing the 24-35 range to get the 14 on the wide end. With astrophotography in mind, I'm told that the Sigma is sharper in the corners. On the down side, the Sigma is heavier and you can't use traditional filters.

I'm wondering if anyone here has practical experience with this lens and can share thoughts, especially relative to the 16-35 II if you happen to have had experience with that as well.

I'm shooting on a 5D2 and 5D3.

TIA!

I know you asked for advice from someone with practical experience with those lenses and I don't have that, so please feel free to ignore my comment. Have you considered keeping the lenses you have and adding a Rokinon/Samyang 14mm/f2.8? You can get the lens either totally manual or one that allows you to set the f-stop with the camera. Both are considerably cheaper and lighter than the Sigma.

Anyway, just my thoughts.

Tim

As Tim said, do yourself a favour, keep the Canon, and get a Rokinon/Samyang prime.

If you do have the budget, you may even want to consider one of the XP Premium variants.

Kind regards, Wim
