So i am kinda impressed with the NR on C1 over LR.I did nothing to either photo other than crop both of them and export as Jpeg. ISO on photos was 12800 shot on Canon R 24-105 RF.I played with C1 long ago but was to use to LR but loved the raw import looks of C1.

C1 is a good program. It appears C1 just applies NR more aggressively at import. I can't remember if besides colour noise LR apples any luminance NR at import at all. I use an import preset that shuts NR off at import and I apply it using a Bulk Developer.

ISO 10,000 using LR and it took about 10 seconds. If you are interested in NR check out Topaz's Denoise AI. I haven't opened DXO PL for high ISO shots since I got DeNoise.

C1 applies everything more aggressively. They posted a video here a few years ago saying how much better C1 looked out of the box than LR, and it did. I'm pretty sure that is why Adobe created new colour profiles making Adobe Colour the default and bumped up capture sharpening from 25 to 40. First looks can work. Adobe Standard is pretty flat by design. Users are supposed to tweak, apply a profile or use a colour profiler. C1 is definitely good with colour.

C1 has a lot more to offer than LR alone but that is what PS is for. With C1 everything is there which is convenient. If I were a portrait photographer I'd give C1 another serious look. I tried it twice before. I liked it but a few things didn't work for me.

Are you comparing C to LR9 or a previous version?

Not sure which version of LR you have bit LR9 now has scaling for NR. You need to use text edit which I'm not good at so I'll use Jeffery's plug-in until they make it more user friendly.

As for C1 you can't go wrong. One of the top editors.

Compared it to LR 9. Long time ago i played with C1 and had a photo of a goose that just off the hook compared to LR before any adjustments. At that time C1 was just to slow choppy for me.Right now playing in PS will post that in awhile.

I sure like LR's updated Auto Tone. Sometimes it gets a brain fart but very usable most of the time. I have read C1 has better NR but that wasn't
high on my list when I tried it. If you push Adobe too much it starts to get a plastic look.

Topaz really surprised and impressed me. I tried it about a year ago and it looked great in Topaz bug I kept getting these round artifacts. I was in Topaz forums and if we asked too many questions the mod shut it down. I waited for a few months with no corrections so I dumped everything Topaz off computer. Since I had paid for Denoise I thought I'd try it again. I purchased Sharpen AI last week.

Second file corrected the blur using Stabilize. It messed up the background panning by trying to correct it. Still learning how to use the mask.

Yes big fan of the auto tone myself but it does have its days from time to time.

It is AI that is supposed to be continually trained and updated. Hopeful it will get even better.

When Sensei first came out Contrast was dropping way too much. I also found that it overprotected any highlights using Canon profiles and grossly underexposed them. One day it was corrected without any announcements. I was a member at Luminous Landscape for several months but it is hard to break into that crew. Jeff Schewe himself said he was working on the fix and sure enough it happened.

I was flipping back and forth between Adobe Colour and Canon profiles. Adobe is not all that bad. They may have tweaked it over the last few years. I’m going to set it as my default for a while and see what I get l.
