Monoprice monitors, others: How do you like yours?

I know we have at least a small few users of monitors by Monoprice,
which is why I bring up the topic.

I have a pair of DELL Ultrasharp U2412M monitors, which are great,
and I really enjoy the 16:10 aspect ratio for the extra height.
However, they were purchased at different times and carry
different hardware-build and version numbers.
The newer one is, ironically, giving me some trouble, with signal noise.
It's a bit like static we used to see in TV signals of days of yore,
but with wonky color artifacts.
It matters not which input I use; the noise persists across video cards
and cables and inputs: DP, HDMI, VGA. "It's dying, Jim!"

Having said the preceding, I've been looking into 2K monitors,
with the aim of purchasing a pair. I think 27-inch is the most
my dual-monitor desk stand can accept, and I'd like to keep
the expense to roughly $500. 4K seems to be out of my running
as far as cost goes for a known maker and quality.

Newegg, Amazon and others have plenty to choose from, but I
remembered Monoprice and began looking into their offerings.
One thing I noticed in a Q&A was from a Staff member, who stated
that ALL monoprice monitors have a matte/satin/anti-reflective
property, which can be almost impossible to determine for many
of the "big" names in the industry. I abhor plain glass monitor surfaces
due to highly reflective properties.

So, please help me with my criteria:
1) Anti-glare/matte-finish surface
2) 24- to 27-inch screen
3) DVI-D and/or DP input, not MINI-DP. DP is preferred
4) Standard VESA mount, 75mm or 100mm
5) Cost to total ~$500 for a pair

I'm currently considering the Monoprice 27in CrystalPro Monitor (external link),
which would weigh in at $540 for the pair.
I believe my goal is attainable, while I'd very much appreciate feedback
from others who have likely been through this same scenario recenlty.

Those U2412 monitors are known to have some issues with the diodes on the powerboard. Are you handy with a soldering iron? See
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmIGwliuWZc (external link) for cracking open the 2412h and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5j2xMS8MvCc (external link) on a different but similar monitor. See https://www.dell.com …ective-diode/td-p/5048656 (external link) on a discussion of the diode problem.

B&H also has the S2715H on sale ($225), not sure about the non-glare screen criteria. See https://www.bhphotovideo.com …x1080_led_monitor.html/qa (external link)

A similar monitor, specs say anti-glare is at Best Buy and fits your budget. See https://www.bestbuy.com …r/6237637.p?skuId=6237637 (external link)

Also, B&H has the 2412M lso on sale ($199) if you want a same as replacement. See https://www.bhphotovideo.com …2M_UltraSharp_24_LED.html (external link)

John, the situation you refer to and provide links for are a power issue,
which does not apply to my own. Also, plenty mention of reflectivity
on the 2715 in the B&H reviews. Q&A on the Best Buy page specicically
asks about and confirms a glossy screen.

I've seen some positive comments about the Monoprice displays here,
so I suppose I was hoping current owners would jump in here with
some further details about their own experiences. My reason for
purchasing two are to avoid color-temperature and other differences
by(presumably) getting both from the same productiion run.

I can report nothing but good results/no complaints, and very high degree of satisfaction with ownship of Monoprice 27" IPS-ZERO-G 2560 x 1440 monitor.

I have had it about 2 years (as I recall) and my monitor is not a matte surface, but the surface returns a very muted reflection that is much lower in brightness than what is reflected in its surface.

Thanks for your feedback, Wilt.
Good to know of positive experiences from active discussion.

An update to say I've just pulled the trigger on a pair of AOC U2790VQ 27" 4K 3840x2160 (external link) monitors,
coming in at roughly $510 US.

Wow. 4K 27-inch monitors, two of them, shipped. $239.99 each.
Many very positive reviews posted, apparently color-calibrated.
Not HDR or fast refresh, but that's not important to me.

I found it Monday and added it to a wish-list.
Checked it earlier today to find the price had jumped back up to over $350.
Browsed around some more, not finding anything similar; largely gave up.
Went back to Amazon to find the price reinstated, transferred from savings,
put 2 in the cart and clicked to buy. Expected back in stock April 27,
expected to arrive May 1 or 2, so I'll presumably get two from a single
production run in an attempt to avoid the color-temp and brightness
issues I've had with my DELLs.

I'll update here after they've arrived, and post a review to Amazon
after I've had them for about a week.

Now you’ve got me looking!

In the gaming world, some people feel the monitors you purchased are the same as the Phillips monitors at https://www.amazon.com …DispalyPort/dp/B07JXCR263 (external link). Coincidentally the Phillips are the same price but a quick check seems to indicate they have a 4-year warranty vs. the 3-year of the AOC. Did you look at the Phillips and if so can you share your thoughts?

I did come across that at some point, but left it alone due to sketchy details about VESA mount
and the 'glossy' cabinet reported. It's also priced at $325, which was more than I wanted to spend.

I swear that monitor was the same price as what you bought and also I think Amazon had stock earlier this AM. Like your experience maybe the price fluctuates based on time of day!

Just some info, I was able to confirm that AOC is a sister company to Phillips and when you do a comparison the two units are amazingly similar. Having said that, one reviewer has stated, with respect to the Phillips that you may have to go through some extra steps if you PC is using a NVidia GPU. The article can be found at https://pcmonitors.info …r-on-nvidia-and-amd-gpus/ (external link).

An interesting article, John. I never was aware of such issues.

No worries for me, though. I've been on ATi/AMD graphics for a very long time.

Sorry I missed this. In 2017 I bought Dell P2715Q 27" Ultra HD 4K Monitor for $459 from B&H. It is discontinued now, but there are replacements.

Gerry, I think you missed my stated goal of TWO monitors for ~$500, which puts your example at almost double that.

Input appreciated, though.

Nah, don't apologize. It's a simple oversight. ;-)a

Amazon order details updated to indicate Sunday delivery, 4-26.
They seem to be keeping their own transportation logistics going,
in spite of articles I've seen to the contrary.
Fingers are now crossed...

That’s because you’re not ordering a face mask;-)a. I have tried ordering a couple masks and Amazon indicated they shipped awhile ago. Tracking just says labeled created, and they’re due by Tuesday. We’ll see...at least I have a mask in reserve if it winds up taking awhile.
