Had clear skies and a great fly by the other night. Took a bunch of 30sec subs, with my 8mm fish eye, then cropped out some distracting Earth based elements ...

Knocked the tripod at the end as it faded away, passing the Southern Cross, but still a fun capture.

2x 50d: with 17-85mm f4-5.6, 100mm Macro USM, 50mm f1.8, 2x Sigma 30mm f1.4, 55-250mm (kit lens), Canon 100-400mm L, Tamron 200-400mm f5.6, Samyang 8mm. 480mm refactor with HEQ5. Home made beamsplitter stereo rig.

That's a bright exposure you got. The moment I went outside to watch it I realized I should have done a long exposure with a wide lens instead of trying to track it with a gun sight attached to my camera. I'm in the outer Sydney suburbs and the sky was wonderfully clear. I captured a few shots as it went overhead that evening by hand with my camera - not far from Venus... and planet Venus looked to be unusually bright. And yet when I zoomed in and stopped down my lens it was in crescent. Bit of a shame that the solar panels on the ISS weren't reflecting more light at the time. I though it was a lot dimmer (visibly fainter) than other passes I've seen. You can see how the ISS changed size and orientation as it passed by my house (see image).

Wow, great captures! I've tried close ups before, nothing this clear! I should practise on Venus again, as it's not moving as fast! :)
