Hello everyone,

I'm looking for a little help and please forgive me if this is in the wrong location. My Grandfather was an avid photographer much like ourselves. I have a photo of him with his camera and I cannot identify it. He has passed on, so there's no way of asking him. The camera was also stolen from him years ago.

I would like to know what my Grandad shot with. The family says it was a Nikon, but I'm not so sure.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thank you and stay smart and safe.

An idea of what decade we might be talking about?

Somewhat resembles the 35mm Bolsey C twin lens reflex of the 1930’s. See https://casualphotophile.com …01/bolsey-model-c-review/ (external link)

It is rangefinder camera. Two windows on top plate are visible. On top is optional viewfinder.

Thank you KF095. After the resources you sent me, Im thinking is a Nikon S 1951. It's a shame that it was stolen

I think you are correct. Image below is with the optional viewfinder mentioned by kf095. Image came from the Leitz museum; see http://www.leitzmuseum.org …s/NikonRF/Nikon51s-1.html (external link). In this image the camera has a silver colored bottom plate but I did find a version with a black bottom plate.

Another interesting link is at http://www.brokencamera.club …jwnhrzck8hgweez8ga6zfcknk (external link). Down near the bottom of the page are some additional links including one to a manual.
