The Phoenix area's Commemorative Air Force has several operative WWII-era planes including a B-17, a C-47, and a B-25.. These three flew a tour of the Valley in memory and honor of the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe day on 1945 May 08.

I got a couple decent pics, but first a disclaimer--I discovered I know NOTHING about fotografing planes in flight.. Shot with my Oly EM1-3 and PRO 40-150/2.8 lens, these are highly cropped...the first to 30% of original area and the second to only EIGHT percent.

These came out pretty nice. Maybe some prop blur and the Oly 150-400/1.4x lens, you'll be set.
See you at the next air show!

When you see my camera gear you'll think I'm a pro.
When you see my photos you'll know that I'm not.

The second one looks sharp for such a crop.

Tips: Shoot shutter priority mode with +1 exposure compensation for blue skies. Most of the times, planes will make multiple passes so you can start with a fast-ish shutter speed like 1/400 which should get you some sharp images with a little bit of prop blur. Shoot in bursts and drop the shutter speed as time allows. Your keeper rate will go down, but if you get a good one, the prop blur will be very nice. If not, at least you'll have some sharp shots from earlier.
