I disagree: the inner bird's beak leads the eye into the picture: the outside birds beak allows the eye to flow around again.

Last week I spied a pair of Western Bluebirds up in the woodlands, and they responded readily to a playback call. . I believe that the various Bluebird species respond better to playback calls than just about any other family of songbirds.

I think if the OP just got out there and played a playback call, he could get the pair of bluebirds to land on the same branch together and face each other. . Probably get them to land on anything he wanted them to. . He could also get as close as he wanted if a playback call was going ...... and thus be able to fill the frame with the birds and not have to crop at all.

Sometimes shooting it differently in the first place can yield an image that is infinitely better than anything that can be done afterwards on the computer.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Thanks Tom, I have the Merlin app on my phone so I might try that. This particular couple started to build their second nest for another brood, I've photographed them since they've been here in my yard so they should be quite used to me. Actually got a few shots of them breeding, the male had a bug in his beak and I thought he was just going to feed her, he did, after the fact. Thanks again for sharing in this thread.
