I posted these earlier in the Travel and Landscape forum but got nothin. All shot with my A520. The lighting with the close up lighthouse was pretty bad with low clouds and the sun going down. What do you guys think? C&C appreciated. Thanks :D

The third one is by far my favorite, but I am biased because I love the natural colors of the sky. The second one is also cool. The first one is lacking something - Maybe contrast in color tones?

I think number one could use some touch up in contrast maybe (or white balance). the rest of these are quite good! 2 seems to really catch my eye with the red popping out and the clouds almost seem 3D. keep these coming!

Like the second pic.

Sorry, had to take that wonderful frame off to do it :)

I altered it a bit to lighten the foreground.

Adjusted shadows/highlights.
Adjusted range and color with my velvia script.
Adjusted curves.
Applied usm.

The problem in #1 is that the scene is backlighted. That tends to make the subject silhouetted. There's not really much you can do to fix that. Next time, go for a time of day when the sun is in your favor.

The red lighthouse looks like it was simply rendered too dark, but Mike fixed it up fine.

The twilight scene is excellent - just enough detail in the foreground rocks to allow them to contribute to the interest. Very good exposure and excellent composition.

The flower picture has great depth, excellent lighting and exposure - too bad the end of the pistil was cropped off.

I like the last....the flower Rob is right, would have been great with end of pistil in it....if you still have. Can be tough with the viewfinder on P & S Camera.....unless you used the LCD. But is it great just the same. I got one for my wife for Xmas. I hope she gets good with it. It is a good camera to use in Simple modes and also if you want to get creative.

Very nice shots, are you trying any HDR?

David

Thanks for the comments guys. Appreciate it alot.
david - I did not use any HDR on these and I havnt tried using it before. I dont even really know how it works except that it is used for putting several shots on top of eachother to make one shot.

AArrrrgh, had the reply all typed out and lost it!!

Here goes again.

HDR is post processing a series of controlled exposures of the same shot to capture the full range of light that you can see but the camera can't with a single exposure. Most of the programs have actions that support this processing. There have been several good threads on POTN recently that would explain it further.
