Any suggestons regarding a decent screen protector for the top screen of my 7dmk2? I purchased 2 so far; one "Expert Shield" for my 7dmk2 and one for my 6dmk2 . While it worked fine for my 6dmk2, it did not work well for my 7dmk2 (for some reason the film for the 7dmk2was thinner, more flimsy than the one I got for my 6dmk2 - plus it was slightly larger than the lcd screen).

Vello and some other companies produce a stiff version that has sticky edges. I tried one, but it doesn't stick for long due to the slight curve of the top lcd screen. I prefer the flexier version. Any suggestions?

p.s. I have been thinking of getting a standard-sized one for a phone and just cutting it to fit the top lcd screen, however, I would prefer to get one already cut to size.

I don’t see anything specific to the top display of the 7DII on eBay so you may have to DIY.

Just looking at my 80D I see/feel a slight depression around the top display. I would cut an envelope or some thin white paper, slightly oversize and tape it to the top of the body. Then, assuming you have a similar depression, go around with a pencil thus tracing a template. Cut that out and then use that for your DIY material.

There used to be a clear material made by 3M for making thing to stick to glass. I used to use it in the days of Personal Digital Assistant’s (PDA’s); another century! I’ll see if I can find out its name when I get home.

Thanks!

Bizzare thing is that there are a ton of screen protectors on the market for even the most obscure cameras, but almost nothing for the 7dmk2 despite the many years the 7dmk2 has been available!

What I used is an Avery Product, #3276, Ink Jet Decals for Windows. It doesn't seem to be available nor is a competitor product made by Hammermill Paper. I would give a call to a local sign shop and see if you can purchase a static cling product as used for window labels.

The other thing is IMO the top information panel on these cameras is not much of a risk anyway. I have a 10 year old 60D and a 3 year old 80D and neither have any scratches on the top panel. Even the rear panel of both are "clean" although I'm careful about jackets, etc. that may have metal buttons.

I too am very careful with my equipment, however there is already a small scratch on the top lcd panel. My guess is that I probably scratched it when placing a lens into a camera bag and placed the lens in the same spot were the body was by mistake.

After that scratch I have purchased screen protectors for all my other cameras. I'm certain that if my 7dmk2 had a screen protector it would not have gotten scratched.

Most phone screen protectors can be trimmed to size
