# 1 does it for me. wish you would have used the little bit of dead space at the top of the frame to include more of the bottom of the phone and post but that is minor. love the trail leading to the phone...great shot.

It is the path that i like best in the shot, lets face it. Phone booths at night have been used in film and photography for years. The path makes the shot for me

I don't know what good composition is.... Sometimes for me composition has to do with a certain brightness or a certain coming to restness and other times it has to do with funny mistakes. There's a kind of rightness and wrongness and sometimes I like rightness and sometimes I like wrongness. Diane Arbus

Wow! #1 is fantastic. You've exposed it perfectly for my taste. As condyk said, the lighting is balanced nicely. My eye is led back and forth between the phone and the pathway. I love this shot. #2, not so much.

Does it work, or am I becomming one of those wierdos who are the only ones who can appreciate their own work

Every shooter is like that - most of us shoot to please ourselves.

The first one hits a mark for me. IMHO the rain drizzle adds a load of feeling, the background is a fantastic find and the foreground is techy and mod but gritty and alienating too.

The second one hasn't got those imho.

Thanks man. I've always shot only to please myself, although lately I've been considering opening a studio and doing some fashion work because I've got some ideas I'd like to pursue which I can't get into until I get a proper lighting setup. That said, now that I'm contemplating pursuing a saleable approach to photography, I'm a bit indecisive between "creative" and "too bizarre for anyone to enjoy". I had a look at some of David LaChapelle's work though, and seeing that I'm confident I can get away with a bit of creative leeway now

So it was a momentary bit of indecisiveness, I think it's cleared up, heh. Much obliged for the critique as well, the second doesn't seem to work for many people although I'm still a fan of it I suppose.

The first one is very interresting, but the second is of balance. I like the idea with one functional and on disfunctional phone, but a thightly cropped portrait showing both phonebooths from the ground up would have worked better - i think :)

Thanks. I'd thought of that, although I envisioned the two phones as beacons of light in a sea of darkness, and it was in post processing that I realized I'd have to shape the scene a bit too much and it no longer looked natural. For that reason anyway, I wanted the open space but I suppose it doesn't work for everyone presented as is.

Like most here, I like the first one. The distressed phone booth and the meandering street and the darkness combine to make this a very moody picture.

I find the second pic interesting as well. There are two highlighted subjects in this pic - the phone and the smaller figure on the right. The bright phone seems to act as a beacon for the person, who seems to need it. Very interesting play of subjects.

Thank you, kind of the feeling I was going for with the beacon, although now that I think of it I should have put a bit more emphasis on the person in the light. Maybe I should get a reshoot in order before they fix that light...

Might have added a little extra mystery if you'd have unhooked the phone

Good point, good point indeed.

Twitch.... your stuff is brilliant - don't let it go to your head - but if you were to put your stuff together in a collection, no doubt you would get a showing. It is because your a little whack that your stuff is so interesting - most "normal" people would have just seen two pay phones ... which just to be different is my favorite. The lighting on the second shot is what makes it different to me. A beat up old phone in the rain is intersting... but I could invision a story of the two phones... put there at the same time but are now different... and the stories they have heard. Cheers and stay odd - its way more fun!

Man, thank you, that's incredibly kind. I'd like to put a showing together at some point, it was a New Year's resolution so if I'm lucky I'll have enough wortwhile to get some space for a bit before December. Crossing the fingers anyhow :)

Everyone, thank you as always for taking a moment to look at my work. It's always appreciated
