It's too late to open the aperture one or two stops, but you could crop a thin slice off the top to downplay the mass of blurred branches. The bright side, though, is that your current version does well at showing the environment that this fox has to negotiate, which looks chaotic to human eyes.

They are is lucky to be able to see a fox in the wild, for some, like me it would be a dream come true.
I see they are shooting with the 100-400L @ 400mm and F5.6 is as open as it can get. With the 1.6 crop factor narrow depth of focus is not going to happen in this circumstance. I had the exact same setup for years and you need to have a lot of room behind the subject to get a blurred background.
