So i've been doing documentary/street/travel photogarphy for about 4 years now and I've come to the point where I'm fairly confident I want to make a career out of doing the work. The problem is i've been financing my hobby from my parent's funds. I know I won't be making bank if I venture down this road, but I need to be able to sustain the trips to buy gear/ basic survival. I need some info about life as a press/magazine photographer.
1. If i'm working for say afp or ap, am I supposed to stay only in my city or do I have the option to go to other cities and make interesting pictures.
2. Do they do a partial accomodation/ meal coverage if i'm travelling for taking pictures.
3. Is this still a viable career option? Is it a salaried job?
I'm not really in it for the money( I think there's little) but I need to know basic survival is ensured before going all in.
