Got these shots at the end of May in the Hayden Valley in Yellowstone.

Excellent!

What lens was used? Looks very close.

When you see my camera gear you'll think I'm a pro.
When you see my photos you'll know that I'm not.

Nice images, Rik!

Looks like you had a fair amount of time with them, which is awesome. My Yellowstone Wolf experiences have mostly been over in less than a minute.

Did you happen to road-trip from your place in Florida to Yellowstone? If so, did you stop for wildlife photography at any places along the route? I can think of a few in-between places that would be incredible to shoot at the end of May.

I find it interesting that you stopped down from f5.6 to f9. . Would you mind telling us your reasoning for this?

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

I flew to Jackson Wyoming and rented a car.

I stopped down because I was using a TC and I find the image quality with a TC is better stopped down, and also because I had been photographing multiple wolves on a kill and I wanted them all in focus.
