(would be at least 30 years old as NZPO became Telecom in 1987)

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

waited while traffic passed over this particular manhole cover, and shot with slow shutter:

.. I've paid a lot of money for this cover to be installed in front of my house ;-)a My area only installed sewers a few years ago at great expense. All homes were given a couple of years to comply with hook-ups to the newly installed sewers. A major pain and difficult conversion for all of us homeowners.. We will be paying for this for what seems like forever.

I've recently become very well acquainted with this utility cover. We had a worn and damaged pipe from the meter to the house... Many feet of digging both down and from the meter to the house to replace all of the pipe. The house is at least 10 feet above street level..... Merry Christmas to me as it was discovered just after Thanksgiving!

I'm sad that more thought wasn't put into the, or onto the covers. In Europe that covers are often well decorated. Even in Seattle there are some covers that are aesthetically pleasing...

I'm wondering what these are...

They are 2 of 4 stainless steel manhole covers that were installed
with images and text representing the themes of forests, salmon, railways
and shipping industries which are very important to the history and
economy of North Vancouver where I live.

I agree Joayne, I would love to see more design going into the covers.
Have you seen this?

Kevin.. I had not seen the video, but I have seen that printing technique somewhere.
I have also seen very cool cover plates, but sadly, my city does not feel the need for any artistic expression for the street plates.
It looks like we all have pretty boring covers. I was hoping to see some are ;-)a
I do like the covers you posted. I did chuckle at "frenzy"

Where I live the nearest utility cover of any kind is a mile down the road and it's plain boring. In pre-COVID times I would have gone down to San Francisco where they have all sorts of interesting manhole covers.

Yeah.. I'm trying to keep the themes close to home during CV-19.
I also know that some folks don't have Utility plates near them, but we did get some that were interesting.
