Blue Light

Anyone using glasses or reading glasses that block the 'blue' light, specifically designed for phone, computer screens, etc? If so, how do you think they affect your color perception during post? I have noticed that these glasses perform as described, I definitely can see the difference, almost like looking at the screen after performing a Spyder calibration, the difference, before and after. Any pros/cons? They help or hurt color grading? Just curious...

I edit glasses-less but am subscribing subscribing as I would like to hear as well.

I got a pair of "blue blockers" about 2 years ago. Single vision computer glasses. Before choosing, I went to several local shops and photographed samples on top of my neutral gray white balance card. Then, in Photoshop, I could easily see and measure their color change. Some, on the cheap end, are obvious and have a strong yellow cast. Others were not so obvious, but measurements showed significant color change. Zeiss and Seiko were in this group.

I ended up buying Crizal Prevencia. Very slight color change, but... I don't think they provide any significant benefit. I usually end the day with 2 to 4 hours on computer. Lastly reading ebooks in bed. I suffer frequent insomnia and hoped the blue blockers would help. They don't. I also suffer eye fatigue and use eye drops a lot. No help there from blue blockers either.

If it is more novelty then not worth it as, mine are cheap readers, looking through and over the glasses, the color variation is evident. I am trying to determine if mine are throwing more of that yellow tinge as well or just filtering the blue light. I may have to try a couple different experiments. Color grade with and without and then have those made into prints for grins-n-giggles...

I doubt the coating on glasses like the ones Redcrown posted would have any noticeable effect on editing blues and yellows, our brains are pretty good at compensating for "wrong colours", missing colours, incorrect shades and tones, etc. There are plenty of optical illusions to show this off, unfortunately our brains are easily tricked too. It might be interesting to get some of the really yellow 'gamer' glasses and see how an editing session went with those on.
