Images removed as a safety measure.

...with a different approach.

No faces; at least not recognizable. Respect. I dangled by a thread over the streets for 11 years, but I was fortunate then to never see the desperation I see all around me now.

This is difficult emotionally, as I find myself transported to the plight of these men and women - and children. It's also dangerous, so I stay near or in the safety of my car.

I'm using equipment that I can afford to lose: Two Canon 20D's, A Tamron adaptall 80-200 F/2 .8 and 28-80 with a Yongnuo 50mm f/1.8 for my fast prime. This evening I shot at ISO3200 (Not recommended on a 20D), but I have it figured out to where I should be able to shoot at ISO1600 from now on.

Tough subject, people don't want to see it and don't want to look at it. There's a space for photography done with a bit of respect, like you've done here.

Thank you. I've been thinking for years about how I can represent these folks and show respect at the same time.

It's hard, very hard. Depending on the neighborhood in which you live in Las Vegas, just going to the store means running a gauntlet of homeless people and all of their plans schemes plots and capers. One becomes hardened, numb, and leery to the stares and pleas...
