Aug 14, 2020 03:00 | #19 Technically I think this qualifies as a dam. The floodgates are just out of picture at the top, my understanding is there used to be an old hydro house atop this structure to provide power Image hosted by forum (1058911) © moose517 [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. Intheswamp Endeavor to Persevere More info Post edited over 3 years ago by Intheswamp. | Aug 14, 2020 23:37 | #20 Point A Dam, Conecuh River, Covington County, south Alabama. This is actually a unique marine Eocene epoch site that is located 90 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. It was once the location of a shallow water, saltwater estuary some 35 to 56 million years ago according to scientists. Prehistoric shark teeth, ray teeth, and fish teeth are found. Also shark and fish vertebrae and a few other items. The big prize when hunting is the shark tooth of the "Ric", or more properly...the Carcharocles auriculatus which was the great-granddaddy of the Megalodon. The poorest of the poor. Camera position is on the southeast bank and this is high water and not the time to go shark teeth hunting!<grin> ![]() Thats nice and thank you for the back story, very nice. Neal
