I own the previous, non-Contemporary version of the same lens. I think it's a terrific all-around lens. It was the first lens I bought when I began doing photography again in 2012, and I've used it continuously since then. I used it on a Rebel T2i (550D), 70D, 7D, and 7D Mark II.

I used several alternative lenses at various times over the years, including the Canon 15-85 USM, 17-40 L, and 18-55 STM. All great lenses, but I just kept coming back to the Sigma 17-70. The range, the size, weight, handling, and ergonomics, and the image quality, I've been very happy with all of it.

I don't often shoot in low light or wide open. Mostly I'm outdoors and probably stopped down a bit to f/5.6 or f/8.

Hope that helps!

Mike

Canon EOS R7, M5, 100 (film), and Sony α6400
I have an orange cat and a brown cat. In HSL, they're both orange.
