This summer is a weird one with very limited commercial bear viewing going on in Alaska. there is some but it is very hard to social distance in small airplanes and on boats and travel off the road system limited to essential work.

We were able to make it out to the south side of Lake Clark National Park to check out the area near Pebble Mine's new proposed port site. They want to put a bunch of infrastructure, an industrial port, powerplant, and hundreds of people in the gap between Lake Clark NP and Katmai NP. The mine itself would be right at the headwaters of the Bristol Bay sockeye fishery.

Pebble Mine is a curse word. It makes me want to curse anyway.
