Re: the June 2020 ACR update / re-design

Is there a way to enable a navigator?
(You know, like in Photoshop or other applications where you get a thumbnail with a tiny box you can drag around when viewing the image at 100%)

I've looked, researched, and googled and can't seem to find out how to enable one.

In the Top Left there is a Navigator Panel. As you drag the white rectangle, it scrolls the main view.

Cheers

Thank you for the reply, Dennis.

However, my ACR looks nothing like that.

In the top left I have the filmstrip thumbnails, no navigator.
Even when the filmstrip is changed to horizontal (along the bottom), no navigator appears.
Is it possible you are open in lightroom or some other app?

When in ACR and at 100% view, I can see no navigator nor option to turn one on.
Neither do I see scroll bars to scroll the image.
The only way to move around the image is to select the hand tool or use the spacebar/hand tool trick.

Still looking for a navigator in ACR

Because the screen shot is Lightroom. There is no navigator in ACR. Click on the image to zoom to 100%, click again to zoom back out.

Adobe has spent more time revamping interfaces and making new icons for newly renamed apps than they have making the existing apps useful.

Yea, I suspected that (Lightroom). I also knew about the click stuff along with the press and hold the spacebar thingie. However, with a very large image it is still much easier to grab the box and scroll around the navigator than scrolling multiple times with the hand tool.

(bold emphasis mine). LOL. I'll assume a little sarcasm there, Kirk. Enough said about that. (It's worth a like)

Edit: But, hey - redesigned icons gotta' be worth something, right? Don't know what, but.... something?

My guess, and this is only a guess, is that they made ACR look more like Lightroom to get everyone used to that design before they integrate Lightroom into PhotoShop as a replacement for ACR. Having both Lightroom and ACR has always been a bit redundant, especially now when Lightroom and PhotoShop are no longer available separately. Just speculation on my part, but time will tell.

That would make sense. It's what they did with the stand alone Photoshop Elements and Adobe Photoshop Album. I used to use PS Album before it was integrated into Elements before I finally switched to LR 3.

I've never used Lightroom, but thanks to someone else,
I've been using MetaRaw Plugin. It transfers modern RAW files from my 5DIV
natively to Photoshop CS6 to be used with the native ACR.

It's saved me from relearning how to process in different programs, and may suit you.

I purchased a lifetime license for US $50, and opening in ACR natively
has been fantastic for my needs.
They emailed me about an update a month or so after purchase,
and all is well after updating.

I consider the $50 lifetime purchase worth the price,
as it re-enables my CS6 suite to take on these newer files
without my having to purchase or learn from scratch.
