Hello,

I need some help with my 500 f4 IS. I am hoping someone here has taken one of these apart and is willing to share some information on how to go about doing it. I have a loose lens barrel and have fixed a similar issue on my 70-200 in the past (took off the barrels, removed IS and focus modules to tighten the interior screws). I have the tools and patience to do this. I know the risks and I am willing to take them. I have been digging through forums for days for information and have not found anything. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

you have the parts catalog? http://f20c.com …%204.0%20L%20IS%20USM.PDF (external link)

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

yeah I do, has certainly been helpful. I was hoping someone here has done a disassembly and can provide some insight on the proper order to remove items. If not, I may just go slow and start taking some pieces off making sure not to disturb too much at one time.

would the 600mm be similar? there's a (somewhat sped-up) dismantle/assembly speil on yutube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOvVtxVs5Yo (external link)

nice, I will check that out. I think they are close and probably use some similar design concepts
