If you use the Canon EOS Utility (see my post above), it automatically launches Canon DPP after the download finishes. DPP then displays thumbnails for all files including CR3s. From DPP you can delete the ones you don't want and then launch LR.
I did attempt to install the Canon EOS Utility a couple of days ago as per your earlier suggestion.
Didn't think I would use or be able to use the program as at one point during the install, it was asking permission to change network settings.
Wasn't sure what network settings it was wanting to change so, I didn't go forward with that.
I'm sure that it has something to do with Wi-Fi use, but my desktop doesn't have Wi-Fi capabilities and I probably wouldn't use the Utility's Wi-Fi function anyway.
At this point I'm thinking that the software didn't completely install so I didn't attempt to use it.
Today I saw your current post so I thought I would give it a try again.
Hooked up the camera to the desktop using the micro USB cable, turned on the camera, opened the Utility, and everything works like you say.
Turns out that even though I didn't allow the program to make network changes, that didn't stop the Utility from installing.
Thanks for the suggestion.
