Charles, I would start by going on-line and updating printer drivers. Also, if you are saving wirelessly to the folder, make sure the bluetooth is on. Sorry I cannot be more help than that.

Doug,

I recently looked for the printer driver, and just now looked again. The latest printer driver for my printer is dated 09/26/2017

I bought the printer 09/15/2018

Yes the bluetooth is on :)

In post 8, you see a scanned document...you can Drag and Drop that to any destination you want, even if the automatic StoreFile-in-LocationX is not set up properly, if it works anything like the Navigator scanning software which came supplied with my Canon 8800F scanner.

Wilt,

THANK YOU! I did not know that. I just tried it and yes it works, BUT it is a PDF file where I would prefer a JPG file.

Is it possible to scan it as a JPG?

Why I do have a multifunction Canon TS6320, I have never used its scanning function, as my wife prefers the UI of the MP Navigator software that we used for a very long time with our Canon 8800F.

While we had the software installed previously, just yesterday I had to do a re-install of Windows 10 due to some issues we were having with it. And while the printer is currently attached to our network and working, I cannot currently install the Canon software for using the scanner!

Did you look at the entire menu presented, for the field which specifiies file type? If now it says 'PDF', click on the little downarrow next to the 'PDF' and other kinds of files should show on that dropdown list.

Sorry to hear you had to reinstall windoze that is never any fun, at least for me! Also sorry you are not able to reinstall your printer driver! Bummer!

I have no drop down menu when using the IJ Scan Utility shown below, I do have the options shown; Auto, Document, Photo, Custom, Stitch, and Scan Gear

When I had a paper document in the printer using Auto it came back a PDF file. Then I used Photo on the same paper document and this time it did scan as a JPG

I then put in a photo in the printer, using Auto it came back as a JPG! I tried Custom for the heck of it on the photo it came back as a JPG so I do not know what Custom is really for.

Scan Gear is a whole 'nother animal. I just opened it up. I will look into that another time.

Hello Dan,

Thank you for your reply. I found the IJ Scan Utility. Within the utility I tried, Auto, Document and Photo. None of them saved anything that I could find anywhere you suggested, or other places I also looked.

Did the scanner appear to be working?
What happened when the scanner finished. Did IJ Scan display any sort of dialogue or message?

I believe the issue is resolved. In reply 20 the OP stated

When I pad a paper document in the printer using Auto it came back a PDF file. Then I used Photo on the same paper document and this time it did scan as a JPG

While we had the Canon-supplied scanner software installed previously, just yesterday I had to do a re-install of Windows 10 due to some issues we were having with it. And while the printer is currently attached to our network and working, I cannot currently install the Canon software DVD for using the scanner, and it not available via the web from Canon USA! So I can't try to look and provide you with suggestions on what to do. But I bet that somewhere is a place where you can declare a default storage location besides where the default location is....like under that Settings button!

As Dan reported, yes the scanner does work. This is what comes up when the scan is done (as also shown in post #8):

I am very aware of going to File to use Save-As and do that very frequently.

This is what I see on this scanning software.

It was not possible to use Windows Snipping Tool as the drop down would disappear as soon as I clicked on the Snipping Tool or anything else so I took a picture. That is the reason the photo is out of kilter.

Right now I am using Wilt's suggestion of dragging the scan to the desktop! Thank you Wilt! ;-)a

I forgot to mention as to your suggestion of finding a twain driver, I am not enough of a computer guru to know what I am doing under the hood of Windows so I leave that to a local computer guru I go to when needed.

Good point Wilt; the scanner has done its job, just now needs some user intervention to tell it where to put the scanned image.

As I had said earlier, the scanner seems to be properly functioning but some user intervention is needed so the software knows where to put the scanned image. For instance, on my installation, I have set up a folder called "Scanned items" with a path of C:\Users\XXXXX\Documents\Scanned items where "XXXXX" is defined by my profile. Just as a point of interest, I put this as a subfolder under documents for backup purposes, another topic. I then go into the scanner software and set the "Scanned items" folder as the default destination for anything scanned. When I’m done the scanning operation, the documents, regardless of type (PDF, JPG, etc) are in the Scanned items folder. I forget the naming convention, but I can usually find them by date and then rename if desired.
