Peacock Spider season is officially upon us.:eek::eek:
The wife and I went out looking today, we found 5 males and one female. Unfortunately I only got photos of two males. For those spider haters out there these little ones don't live in houses and are so small that you would probably not notice them even if you happened to come across one in the garden. To give you a reference the sticks he is sitting on are about 1-1.5mm in diameter. He is a Maratus Hortorum and is only found in the perth region.

Yes they are a type jumping spider.
We have about 80 species in Australia that have been described and they are still finding more.
A lot of the work has been done by Jurgen Otto and you can check out his site to find out a lot more about them.
