I have just purchased a 1971 Austin 1100.
wow how basic were cars in the 70's
this one was built at Longbridge (Birmingham) at the height of the Labour troubles in the 70's.

it is the same type of car that i learnt to drive in when i was 17. (i am now 55)

also the same type as the first car my wife and i bought together and later i also had the same car but with a 1300 engine in.

car goes very well body (like mine) needs TLC.now going to restore it and take it to shows in the summer, more photos will follow later in the year.

more photos (including the inside) on my website.

Lots of memories for me as well.
it needs some small bits done to the bodywork and a few small things done inside (see website) and i am going to completly re-spray it in the summer (if we get one).
drove it for a few hours over the weekend and had people stopping and looking whereever i was. it drives very well for a 35 year old.

cats are great marie, into everything as cats do.

location is the car park for an ancient chalk horse "The Uffington white horse is undoubtedly Britain’s oldest and most famous hill figure, which has recently been dated at 3000 years old by the Oxford Archeological Unit."

(slightly older than the car) more details here
