I've seen members on a couple forums asking about the R5 from a sports perspective.

I have my first swim meet in 6 months this weekend and will be shooting with both the 1DxIII and the R5. If you have something specific you want me to test out, feel free to ask or PM. The meet is inside, so I'll be able to give legit opinions on the high ISO capability of the camera.

That swim meet should be a great comparison.

Woo hoo! Should see my R5 next week. Cpricewatch preorder on July 10th, was hoping for the second shipment but no joy. Looked 50/50 on the 3rd shipment but seems like they had some cancellations and I squeezed in.

Now the long wait for it to ship and make its way to me from Canada.

Picked up a couple of the new batteries last week from my local store so will have two fully charged and ready to go on delivery.

Went ahead and cancelled my BH preorder that I made in mid-august. Getting it sooner and cheaper too!

My BH pre-order that I placed the day it was announced finally shipped yesterday. It's been a looOOOOOOooong wait. :D

Yes, you can import them. Missing from LR are the color profiles for Canon's Camera specific for the R5 . They have some Adobe color profiles. It is this same way for the Canon 90D, which has been out for some time. No camera specific color profiles for it either. That said, the Adobe profile has worked OK on the 90D. Just got my R5, but from shots others have posted using LR, seems good to me.

It has been almost 2 years. There is something going on between Canon and Adobe. No cameras that have CR3 files have camera matching profiles expect for the R. This is because the R has the same sensor as the 5D4 so Adobe copied. I read the M50 as well so maybe they copied it as well, I don't really know. Anyone from Canon or Abode who knows what is going on won't say anything.

Actually I'm finding Adobe profiles quite pleasing for the R5 RAW files I downloaded. I will give them a good run when I get it. In the mean time the fellow who runs this site is called Collin. He put some serious time into Canon matching profiles. $15 and you can get them for the R6 too. I purchased them and will experiment with them as well.

This a DNG I downloaded from the Fro. I really like the skin tones and the rest of the colours Adobe Colour produced.

Adobe Colour using the Auto button only. His face is a little red but he is running around. The tones on his arms look pleasing to me.

I guess I should have said Classic as well which is anything LR7 +. 9.4 is the latest. I'm going to also call Classic LrC from now on. LR (mobile) will also open CR3 files.

Do I want to be converting to DNG when I import and edit? It's been a while but I'd rather edit the CR3 directly no?
