Not in English. 2:37 and 2:43 are mechanical. 3:00 is Electronic. The next two are the A7R4. We don't now if he turned the EVF review off or was he using 120 fps refresh rate.

Minute 5:30. I think this was posted at FM. He claims he tracked a Cheetah in mechanical. He is an Explorer of light.

I'm not convinced he tracked a cheetah with the R5. I know he said it but I'm not sure that's what he meant to say. Either way, both of those look promising.

The R in the first video rang true...good accurate tracking and then it decides to have a look at those nice trees...

This guy is clearly NOT HAPPY with the R5

https://www.eoshd.com …hotos-says-gerald-undone/ (external link)

and this guy was less then thrilled with the R6- Rolling shutter issues mentioned
https://www.cinema5d.com …tion-doubtful-video-tool/ (external link)

I am not about to rush in and buy any of these cameras. R6 on pre-order for me. However, If I continue to see these types of reports, I will cancell and go on the wait and see lists

I don't shoot video so I have no concerns there. There is only one thing that is still keeping me on the fence about walking out the store with the R5 in a few days. Mechanical shutter.

Some people said this fellow with the R6 was completely unprepared. Who goes to a job without testing your gear and knowing it's limitations. As for rolling shutter. No real indications of bad rolling shutter on the R5. From the work you do. Are you going to be tracking fast moving subjects in 20 fps?

I'm not following the R6. Just getting info from reading bits here and there so I'm not completely up to speed. As for the pre-order you have do what works best for you.

He is an Explorer of Light so he represents Canon. He has to be careful about what he says. He did say it and preferred it over mirror slap but as you said this was a free for all chat so who knows. Anyone with Facebook should contact him and get him to verify it. I don't use it and never will.

Honestly it has been a year since I used a DSLR and I forget what it looks like in the OVF when burst shooting.

All the videos using mechanical is shutter have been targets moving towards the camera. Nothing side to side except for the Northrups and I don't trust her assessment.

This person got an R5 loaner. Claims a little lag but and bothersome but that is subjective. This is encouraging. "I didn't shoot BIF, so I can't say for sure. It did well with BRIF (Bear Running In Field)".

2-3 days to go and I'm still not sure.

I watched it again. What he said was pretty clear. He even said he tracked a car and didn't lose it in the EVF.

It was very clear that he tracked a cheetah with the 1Dx iii but then he talked about tracking 'it' with the R5 and I'm not convinced he was talking about the cheetah. I don't know why he would talk about how well it tracked a car in support of how it performed tracking a cheetah in full flight.

All I could think of was Trump, when his mind seems to wander mid sentance and he ends up not talking about what you thought he was saying in the first place...

Heavens, even the R will track a car...

I put a request out on another site that referenced that FB chat a few times. I requested someone contact Glatzer and very what he said. I think there are a few members that did speak to him.

Awesome. That could put our minds to rest! Even better if the cheetah wasn't just running in a straight line...

With the R I still have to predict where the car is going and pan accordingly based on speed. Cars move in one direction so it is easier.

He first talks about the 1DX mirror slap and then not an issue with a little bit of stutter "following it". -1:00:30

Then he talks about the car. I do agree, it is not scripted so you really don't know. We'll see if someone responds.

The video overheating issue is very well known and documented at this point, so yes, all videographers trying to use the R5/6 for serious video work are going to be disappointed a bit. That is pretty clear. For the rest of us, we likely won't be impacted as much, or won't care at all.

for photography, I just don't see the point in getting the r6 with the 5dmkIV, and R on the market for less than 2k. I'm looking for a non-sports body to complement my 1dx, and the r6 looks like a waste of money to me.

Why would you think this ??

The R6 sensor is the 1Dx3 sensor.....which is a substantially better sensor than your 1Dx ??

Plus the AF system is better than your 1Dx system...By a lot

My concerns are leaving the camera on all day and it overheating in 80 Degree+ heat shooting stills. I will leave camera on and only shut down to change batteries
