Help me understand please

Ive just done a bit of videoing in the garden for approx 30mins, what i dont understand is my video was split into 6 minute clips is this usual or have i set things up wrong thank you...Ray:-(

Check the file size on one of the segments. I know on this side of the pond there may be a couple of limitations, one being a max of 4 GB files size. There is also a legally imposed limit that a video using a still camera can only be about 30 minutes in length, actually a tad less. If the recording device is capable of more than 30 minutes, it is classified as a video device, not a still device and is taxed/tariffed differently. Since you are in the UK your laws might be different.

Ive just checked the three videos it took they was 3.92 GB, by the way a neighbour not very close i may add has offered me a
Canon XH 1a Professional HD Camcorder that does mini dvds, for £200 would this be better than the 80D thank you:-)

You’ve hit the 4 GB limit, actually a Windows limit and little to do with the camera. One thing you can do is decrease the resolution for videos. I don’t do video but I think if you drop down to the default resolution, for instance on a 70D, then you get about 16 minutes at the 4 GB limitation.
