Good afternoon

I bought this at a good price from a reputable dealer. I have forgotten the date code but will look later. Original box and nylon case. Looking forward to trying it out over the weekend

What can I expect from this lens on a 5D Mark III body?

Ive used one on a 5D3 extensively. It works very well; the images are vibrant and sharp, and the lens responds very well to the AF mechanism of the camera.

I would expect you wont have any issues...

Are you referring to the current 300LIS f4 or the previous non-IS version? Both are optically very good lenses. The non-IS is probably at least 20 years old and more difficult to hand hold for steady images. Don't know if Canon still provides service for it. The current IS version solves hand holding with two stops of effective stabilization. It uses an older technology IS that gives an audible clunk noise when IS starts up but that's normal.

It's the IS version; The year of manufacture is 2014 according to the date code.

Funnily enough, I like the clunk noise of the IS. This was the last lens I bought so don't know what the newer IS ones sound like.

Got a few decent shots once I'd mastered how to best hand-hold it (plus a few duds)
