This picture made me think of me and my dad last time I was here, 27.5 years ago:

These are great, I’ve been considering the 17-40L for a couple of months now for landscapes and I think you just convinced me, on number 2 did you use a polarizer filter as well because the sky is a wonderful shade of blue?

Those are wonderful shots Lonnie, It's really nice when you can revisit a place that brings back fond memories. :D :D :D I sure wish we would have blue skies like that around here more often.

More interesting Arizona shots. I really must visit there the next time I'm in the US. :)

I'm enjoying your swing through Northern Arizona, as I was doing much the same. We may have passed on the highway.

The 17-40 is one of my two favorite lenses, the other being the 24-70. Those two spend about an equal amount of time on my cameras. Yes, I used a CPL filter for that picture. I almost always have my B+W CPL filter on whatever lens I'm using at the moment.

That could be. Too bad we didn't know beforehand that we would be in the same area. It would have been nice to get together for lunch or something.

Nice shots, Lonnie. I Love the GC anytime I can get there.

We are planning a side trip there in August on our way to a wedding I'll be shooting in Prescott. However, being August means HOT weather but it is also monsoon season so the weather could get very interesting.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

I was in southern Arizona early last September when Hurricane Rita was attacking Texas. That made for some very strange weather in Arizona! Lots of sudden, very heavy downpours with no warning at all. And, like you said, very hot! It's such an interesting state. :D
