It isn't in consumers hands now, so all we have are the pre release reviewers right now, and Canon. In two weeks, we will likely start to see all the hoopla over the R6.

Thats an assumption. Im hoping thats not the case. the 2-3 videos I have watched and the guys said shooting stills is OK for R6

Im waiting to see. If its good for stills than I will get

R5 is not an option for me until they get a fix

I have seen a few videos on the R6

One video the overheat warn lights are on when shooting stills. They were using them for a couple of hours after light came on and it was still shooting stills fine. He said a few times. no problem shooting stills and events

We shall see

Either way....I as a consumer dont have to spend one stinking dime on a camera body that overheats and appears to be sub par to the previous line ups.....This is a bonehead release by canon and its going to make the 1DMKIII look like a walk in the park

Meanwhile, Sony continues to innovate

My 1Dx2 and 5D4 work just fine.

An A9 is still very appealing if only I were not so heavily invested with Canon in glass

my guess is a big fat recall and class action lawsuit against Canon. They will nee to fix this mess

I doubt it. People are getting lots of stills shot without issue. Too many happy campers being blown away by the AF. Canon released the specs the day of the launch so if someone buys one without researching too bad. Sonys overheat too. That new 12mp is better, if you want 12mp.

The only lawsuit I see is Canon against EOSHD for libel.

Im not reading as much overheat issue with the R6 unless its shooting video. Dont find the complaint with stills

Do you have anything about the R6 and heat warn lights shooting stills ?

No, not at all, Mike. I was thinking of the R6 overheating when shooting video, not stills.

There is a thread from DPreview about the R5 for shooting stills only. There are only a handful I reports about overheating shooting stills so that is not the cameras design.

I am a wildlife/ stills photographer and agree with previous posts.

No overheating even when shooting in 90+ degree (and sunny) summer temps. Overheating is definitely a video thing and getting too much attention.

Haven’t measured FPS, but does not seem to slow down even around 25% battery using a grip with 2 LP-E6NH. Check charge performance and make sure lens is supported at 12 FPS per the manual.

Battery life was better than rated even when I tried old LP-E6N batteries with one red bar for charge performance.

New AF is amazing.

Ok, shot another wedding outside today. 82 inside, and 100 outside. From 11:30AM to sunset at 8PM. 3,500 photos taken. Not a single overheating issue, even in the direct sunlight for the ceremony. Seems that it’s a video issue, and not a stills.

And NOW THIS

they say camera is not overheating. and that canon has created software limits for the overheating

Its FAKE NEWS

Hints floating around the camera world that canon did this so the R5 would not cripple higher end cinema cameras in its line up

It looks like it is is linked to the EOSHD site that has been discredited. It reminds me of Petapixel that just passes on information without verifying anything.

There are conflicting views/opinions going round and people fighting over it.

Seems to me that at this moment everything is speculation. Nobody knows for sure.

One thing does seem rather clear and that is that the R5 does not actually seem to be overheating.

Then wouldn’t all the video formats be capped?
