Hi all,
I am trying to tether my 6D to my 2019 MacBook so I can remote shoot with the EOS Utility. I have done this previously with an older USB A based MacBook and it worked fine, however via a USB C-A converter the camera is not detected.

I have tried a couple of cables still with no go, however I have only used one converter that so far has worked with everything else I have.

Has anyone else had issues tethering to a USB C based MacBook, or has it just worked like it should do?

I will also dig out a really old Dell laptop with USB A to see if it works on there, when I can find it!

Is it an Apple USB-C to A adapter that you're using to connect the usb cable to MacBook? With USB 3 hard drives, I haven't had issues with any adapter I have. However, with some other USB devices, I've found it sometime's a crapshoot as to whether other USB devices work (I have several USB to C adapters now, so that one will wind up working with trial and error). Probably the most sure fire is to go ahead and get a mini USB to USB C cable such as this (that does claim compatibility with cameras and MacBooks):

I think I have a more serious issue, I think it's the camera, tried three cables on my old USB-A based Dell laptop, no go on any of them.

Try turning off WiFi if it's on.

Cool! It is a weird design choice. But understandable I guess.
