Any heating issues using 8K?.

How long did you have video rolling?

Did you have to let it cool down afterwards ?

Also wondering what, if any, heating issues may be present during still shooting? If so, or if not, what the context of the use conditions are, i.e. out for a few hours, several hundred shots, is the camera going to sleep often or powered off frequently, etc.?

There are timers for putting the camera to sleep and powering off. Minimum for Sleep is 15 seconds. Max 30 minutes. Power off minimum is 30 seconds. Max is Disable so the power would never shut off. The sleep cycle runs first and once it is done then the power off starts.

I used it only for a couple minutes so no issues. So no need for a cool down. Went right back to photographing the birds.

I have use mine a bit with burst with no heat issues at all. I do use the grip if that makes a difference at all. The CfExpress cards gets warm other than that no issues. I have been using it in some hot temps too. I do have the camera power down after 3 minutes and hit the shutter to wake it up.

Here's an 8K framegrab with minor processing applied on the HEIF file you get. I shot a few seconds of video as the guy went up and turned. It was enough to capture the moment, then i pulled the file i wanted to keep and dumped the video. This feels like cheating photography. :)

A 100% crop from the same file.

So, who needs 12/20 fps when you can have a million+ 8K frames...?

"What a great shot! You must have a really nice camera." :-D

I had a family member pull that on me recently. Since she's a pretty decent cook, so I used the "you must have a really nice stove" response.

She got the point.

Thank you for the response Rob. Can you give a ballpark general estimate of how many images you are capturing during an outing? Are you finding the eye AF has any trouble when there is lack of contrast between the eye and face? I have a friend with an R5 that indicated the AF was reluctant to find the eye on a moose, and defaulted to head.

Fantastic images BTW. Appreciate the sharing and context of crop vs non-crop modes.
