Did you by any chance enable the "Continuous AF"?

No it's off. Shooting one shot, AF servo, Center point.

When I use my 1Dx the lens snaps to the focus point then there is very little noise of the servo from the lens. On the R5 the lens appears to gain focus (green square) but there is a lot of noise from the lens as if it was jittering back and forth. I have had clear pictures from the R5 with this lens but very few. Most are extremely soft.

I've tried exactly the same settings between the 1Dx and the R5 and the 1Dx will beat it every time for sharpness.

Want to buy a 500mm Mk1:-D

If you can find that same spot again shoot the same photo in Summer and compare the two. It can be interesting to see the change.

Easy enough to do I know where it is. I frequent that network of trails because it's close to the office. It's a popular trail running area as well.

My first "real" landscape outing this morning with the R5. I must say I'm pretty impressed with the way it handled. I haven't tested the theory quite yet but this sensor may truly make GND's a thing of the past. This is a shot of sunrise over Lake Lanier, Georgia. Taken with RF 24-70mm 2.8

good exposure on this one..not always easy . :-D

Thanks.
It's a frustration shot. There was nothing else flying by for a very long time, but only crows. So thought, why not.

Well, it's been a very long time, POTN people! I was very active way back in the day, but switched to mirrorless about 11 years ago and drifted away. After 5 years with Sony, I fell in love with the R6, and later added an R5 and switched entirely to the RF line. Here are a handful of images from my R5 from the last month or so:

Beautiful series.
Particularly love the river scenes etc. Beautiful landscape

I wanted to try out my new R5 back in December on the eagles at Conowingo. Unfortunately I went on a day when the birds did not come out to play. On the positive side, the sunrise was pretty nice.
