Here is a short clip showing 202 still images of a dragonfly hovering. I used the 400mm f2.8 + 2x handheld.

Cool. Why is it tagging the water?

I am assuming you used the new electronic 20FPS features here

This is my problem

202 still images......omg why ?

so much to cull and go through in post

when I shoot wildlife, I chimp and if i got the first couple of shots, I move on to something else. All these stills captured. Its a nightmare to go through in post and deal with

It is called testing. I wanted to see how the AF locked on. I would never keep that many dragonfly images. At the same time I have managed some cool poses by taking large burst. I do not do this with my yard birds. However rare sightings you bet, I will blast lots of images. I do this for fun, not timelines etc. So I do not mind going thru and looking to see what poses, angles etc. I personally was impressed it stayed on the dragonfly like that but it seems like that is a no go for you. Any camera can grab at least 1 or 2 pictures. Yes I did you the ES 20fps

Rob you are showing some amazing images in this thread, all great examples of the MANY different ways the R5 can be used.

While lots of people are spending hours online debating if it works or not, with out ever actually using it, you're just going out taking photos and proving it can be an amazing camera.

Your problem isn't necessarily anyone else's problem.
20fps is a great way to get very high resolution time lapses, it's sometimes the only way to capture things that happen faster than our eyes can see them, and it's a fantastic example of the AF performance, something many people are still worried about with mirror-less cameras.

Today I tried my R5 and Sigma 150-600 Sports combo. Pleased with the results as the AF subject detection "people" works beautifully when trying it on surfers. There are more shots in the album linked to the shot below. I took about 90 shots on High speed shooting + (mechanical shutter) and only 2 or 3 where - slightly - OOF. The rest was spot on. It was amazing to see the camera locking on subjects almost instantly. Never managed to achieve this with my 5D4.

Do you use a adapter on this combo, if so which one do you use?
