Fantastic shot. One of the harder birds for BIF. And you nailed it.

Had some nice rain today that cooled things down for a bit and let me wander around the yard without feeling like I was going to combust at any moment.

This was a small nomad bee, about 1/2" long that my daughter rescued from being stuck in a large rain drop that had landed on her picnic table. We placed it on some flowers to dry, this was a few minutes before it took off

That's one complex process to get hang of..

I'm probably making it sound more complex then it actually is. :-P

1. Get your exposure right
2. Set to One-Shot AF
3. Focus on your main point of the subject
4. Rock back until you see the first bit of detail you want in focus, like a leaf edge or foot, etc..
5. Start shooting and slowly move forward while continuously shooting
5a. Miss a shot, swear a bit and try again
6. Merge in your editing program of choice
7. Profit

Isn't this making thing unnecessarily complicated. The R5 got an in build focus stacking option. You can select the number of shots and the focus advance rate. That works perfectly and fast and in PS stacking is a breeze. Or am I missing something.

Here is an example 10 shots, staced in PS.

He has done many Stacks using the R5 feature with killer results. He wanted to use flash so he manually stacked.

Ah, so you are not using the R5 focus stacking anywhere, instead you are moving yourself. Interesting.

True, but the built-in option does not work with a flash, I need to use a flash most of the time

From this morning. Here is the nesting pair of bluebirds from this morning. Mom has some food. I like when I can get them both in the frame which is not easy to do.

Yes, I needed to use a flash and the built-in option does not allow for that because of the electronic shutter

I watched this Osprey for about an hour, hoping it would find a fish. It came close a couple times, but didn't dive.

Another great shot Tom, I love the variety of all the natural perches in your photos.

I'm trying out my EF lenses on my new R5. This is a first effort using my EF 24-70 f4L lens.
