This Eastern Water Dragon was relaxing in the shade and I managed to grab several sets of consecutive images for DOF stacking, by placing the AF Point (on the rear LCD) over various parts of his anatomy and using "Touch Shutter" to take the shot.

From the 9 sets I took, 7 were not suitable as he made gross movements between frames so they weren't worth stacking.

In the end, two sets (6 frames and 9 frames) were useable, with minimum movement of the beast between shots, although I did miss one or two "slices" as it were. It was frustrating to wait between shutter releases, so next time I'll turn off the download/view on rear LCD to see if that speeds up the process to minimise the risk of movement between frames.

Tripod mounted with a Speedlite on the hot shoe as the guy was in the shade.

Cheers

Dennis

Hi Gary...

Thanks so much for the comments. She was a very cooperative model for sure. :-)

The Eye AF on the EOS R5 makes getting these kind of shots a whole lot easier, even though they do remain quite challenging.:-)

I swear that these guys can "sense" when I point the lens at them and they immediately scoot off.:-(

Cheers
