This might be the last time I get to use the Helicon Focus Tube with the Canon 180mm F3.5L with Extender EF x1.4, as I think that the configuration HW/SW may be "broken". You run a Configuration App (Win 10, IOS in my case) and program the FB Tube with a step size matched to the lens in use. I last configured the FB Tube for my Canon 100mm F2.8 L IS USM and when I tried to re-configure the FB Tube using the Cable Assembly terminated by an IR LED that is used to transmit configuration, the procedure failed.
I'm not sure if this is a HW or SW fault but essentially, this leaves the FB Tube configured for the 100mm and there are insufficient steps to take the extra frames needed for the 180mm. I have the old IR FB Tube, the current model transmits configuration data by a magnetic connector.
Oh well, it was a good journey while it lasted and I had lots of fun and I can still use the FB Tube with the 100mm lens.
The attached photo is a stack of 24 frames with the R5/180mm/Extender x1.4 set further back from the Paper Wasp nest to help improve the DOF for each "slice" or frame.
Cheers
