Thought it may be of help for those that dont have a lot of PP experience and are wondering why their R5 images arnt getting close to some of the images posted in here to see a before and after of a RAW off the R5.

The one Ive posted below was taken last week in a local park when the sun was peeking in and out of cloud cover in dense bushland making it extremely difficult in respect of dynamic range white balance and exposure in manual mode . In addition to this the bird didnt stay in one spot for long and when it did it had fast twitchy movements. This then affected what min/max SS I could use as well as general exposure as there were varying backgrounds it landed in that were 1-2 stops apart within meters of each other. Which in turn meant some PP work was needed in 1. Lightroom for basic RAW changes such as exposure, color( especially red detail ) and shadows etc 2.PS for cloning out branch and then 3. Topaz for noise reduction.

All in all it came back to a reasonable image under the circumstances....espec​ially so given this shot was done handheld with an ef 400mm f2.8 with an extender on the R5 giving an effective focal length of 560mm . Given shutter speed was only 1/360 th second goes someway to showing the R5 ibis combined with the EF400 IS really helps to stabilise the camera well in excess of what I would ever have been able to do with my 50mp 5DSR/EF400mm with std IS . In a situation like this if I had same lens setup with my 5dsr it would have meant a 1/1500 - 1/2000 S/S to get a sharp hand held image @560mm . ( My old 5DSR rule was minimum 3x focal length for a sharp shot if cropped ).

The long and the short of it was the IBIS /IS combo gave me the opportunity to still keep relatively low noise , aperture wide enough as to seperate the subject from background whilst going way lower in SS even when hand held. My calculation is it was a good 5 solid stops of IS helping to stabilize here vs 3 on the 5DSR. This means a lot to me as I often crop to 100% to compensate lack of focal length which is where camera shake really shows itself.

Two from a recent senior session.
The R5 completely changes my work flow. Eye Auto Focus in Servo mode is just flawless. Moving forward I can shoot a lot less during a session because I don't have to take safety shots for focus. Both of these with a Tamron 70-200 G2 at f/2.8.

Couple of animals seen on my trip two weeks ago to Grand Teton and Yellowstone.

Nothing scientific here but me and Amy where standing close to one another and shot this Cormorant this morning. I was in crop mode and Amy was full frame with the 1dx Mark III. I cropped her's to a similar size and processed both. Her image held up very well. Her's is almost cropped 50%. We had different settings because we did not do this as a test but interesting none the less. In PS full size 24x16 we both agree mine looks a little better. Hers looks a little over sharpened in full size.
