Yes I am using the grip. I do not see a change in performance with or with out other than longer battery life. I also feel is runs cooler with the grip, nothing to back that up but just a feeling.

Thank you, yes you can pick your starting point. I do like the smart controller but the R5 has a sensitivity setting for the joy stick now so you can increase the speed it moves, nice feature which makes up a bit for not having the sensor.
