I recently upgraded my aging 420EX Speedlite, which I got waaaay back in 2001 as part of an insurance replacement along with a EOS30 Film camera plus a couple of lenses, the camera and the lenses have long since moved on or ceased being used but the 420EX has still seen usage albeit infrequently right through from my film body, my Powershot G3 and three DSLR's - not too shabby really.

That got me thinking, what bits of kit do other people have that are still "current" (as in they still function perfectly adequately with modern equipment)?

I've an old telescopic tripod from 1960's.
Still functions.
But I wouldn't put a large telephoto on it.

I've also Pentax SLR lenses I've adapted to Olympus, but they get used only occasionally.

Shutter operator - circa 1961, still working albeit intermittantly...

possibly oldest bit of "kit" still in use is Photoshop CS3

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Family FED-2 from sixties. With its original lens, case, box and paperwork. I'd rather sell all other film cameras, but keep this one working. Entire shutter is DIY swapable with replacement or DIY reparable.

My regularly used piece of photographic equipment is probably my EF 24mm f/2.8. I think I picked it up in 2007. It's also the lens with the earliest design, too. It was released in 1988. It's small, light and sharp enough. It fits nicely in a jacket pocket, and it's perfect for walking around with, especially if I use it with my EF 50mm f/1.4. Together, along with my EOS R, they form my minimalist photography kit, which I use when I can't be bothered to carry much.

My oldest bit of working photography equipment is a Pentax Program Plus, with a 50mm f/1.7. My parents bought it in about 1984. It still works, although I haven't actually used it for years. It fascinated me in my youth. I suppose my curiosity about that camera is what started me on this journey.

I currently have an AE-1 35mm with several lenses. My oldest piece of digital gear is an early 90's EF 35-80mm f/4-5.6 that was on a Canon Rebel 1000 35mm. My son has that camera and still uses it, though with a different lens.

Heya,

Mostly lenses at this point, as they continue to work indefinitely. So I have several of the Super Takumars in M42 mount all with good quality glass, working manual aperture iris blades functioning and the manual focus throws work well. My favorite is the Helios 58mm F2. I have several 28mm F3.5's, 50mm F1.4's and 135mm and 200mm. I use them with an FX-M42 adapter with my Fuji mirrors systems currently. I used to use them with Canon with an adapter.

Very best,

My oldest lenses would be 50 f/1.8 and 70-210 f/4 both from 1989. Next oldest would be my 300 f/2.8 IS L V1 from the late 90's.... Just can't seem to part with them.

I purchased new Canon extension tubes when using 35mm years ago probably 1999-2003
It turns out they work great on my digital bodies. No money wasted. is a refurbished AE-1 Program with several lenses, books and manual. A Canon T50 my 1st 35mm. 1989 Pentax K 1000 I later purchased an auction bag of great lenses for it.
A pelican case in need of fresh foam that has been to Hawaii, Florida, Niagara falls.
My EOS 35mm bodies and lenses still work. Elan II E and 650 I should take the Elan II E out for fun sometime.
Manfrotto tripod and pan tilt head.
