I'm 3d printing them right now, on batch #4, getting ready to package up and ready for sale when the R7 is ready to go! :D (j/k)

how are you anchoring them?

It was a post in jest, j/k = just kidding

I do have a 3d printer but to your point on a serious note, the only way to anchor such a mod would likely have to utilize the tripod mount and then have a replacement mount on the grip bottom.

couldn't you make it slightly larger than the base front and back and inset so the R7 sits in it?

...a lip along one edge, just like L-brackets by RRS.

Still need to attach it to the body in some fashion, just having the camera sit down into a recessed area isn’t enough. Even if you put in friction tabs, they wear out eventually.

In any case, it’s a shame canon isn’t designing this with battery grips in mind.

The pinky grip for the RP uses this arrangement, but has two small pins to prevent rotation. You end up with a tripod mount that will rotate unless you really tighten it down. The lens mount and the articulating screen leave room for only small lips on the front.

RRS uses tripod socket screw, the lip keeps the body from twisting on the plate....a motorwinder could do the same.

Yes the lip would of course be necessary, especially when there aren’t any grip holes.

Personally again I found the hand strap to be superior to camera control and even with a grip, I employ the strap.

I can hold the 5d4 and 70-200 2.8 for hours without any hand fatigue.

Would you rather buy a phone? According to Sony, smartphones will outperform SLRs (all ILCs are probably intended) in a couple of years.

I'm trying to visualize National Geo photographers stalking grizzlies with a phone...

Exactly! No question todays smartphones are pretty great cameras for landscape and even portraits with that computational psuedo bokeh. But reach?? Fuhgeddaboutit!!

And as to bokeh, a multi lens phone takes multiple shots at one time, one lens for subject isolation, the other to capture detail etc. I think some phones now employ up to four lenses at once?

I think the bigger hurdle still is low light shooting while still capturing good detail.

Why is this even a question? You use the tripod mount.
