(3 edits in all) | Apr 10, 2021 15:41 | #304 Sooo, I bought the RF 1.4x extender and took it out for a serious spin with the 800/11. The combo obviously needs good light, both in quantity as in quality. But my field test showed it is useable. In the right conditions. Right now I was dealing with cold air, the kind that kills colours. But still quite pleased with the shots. Wild Birds of Europe: https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=19371752

Not too bad, right? And this was in less than favourable light and with the bird really far away so I cropped way too much. So yeah, quite pleased with the results. pcs wrote in post #19221480 I think the lens must be in you gear(forum profile) and with converter I get 'unsure' and have to confirm(at least with 100-400ii). The lens is in my gear list. And I have always had to fill in the lens manually with this lens. Not sure why. Wild Birds of Europe: https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=19371752

I like those results. Congrats on your new 1.4. I'm going to use mine today for first time to try to get an ibis that usually stays far, far away. We'll see.

It usually stays ~400-500' away, but in this case it flew to within ~175-200'.
