I have designed a book cover that uses two copies of one of NASA's images of the Earth. According to the media rights webpage (see below), NASA photos are in the public domain. The one exception is photos of astronauts or other personnel. There are none in the photo.
I wrote to the appropriate department of NASA to clarify the terms of usage and tell me if my intended use is acceptable. I also asked them to provide me with photo credit verbiage. I have not received an answer.
I am not asking those on this forum for legal advice. However, I would like to hear a consensus. Have any of you experience with NASA media policies?
