...the RF adapters, both regular and control ring are backordered everywhere.

B&H has one made by Vello in stock:

https://www.bhphotovideo.com …_cef_canon_ef_to_eos.html (external link)

There's only one real review, and it says that the adapter was loose on the camera side and didn't work properly. I have the Vello on my desk in case my R5 comes before the Canon adapters. The Vello adapter fits nicely on my EF lenses, but obviously I can't test the R side. :-(

Image editing ok; C&C always welcome.

So I bought it! My b'day is a week away and the mrs said what are you waiting for?! I did a store pickup at B&H.

I went with the 24-105 STM. I could not justify the $1100 additional expense. Not right now at least. And of course I need a lens! This option is currently $100 off and expires in 3-days. The sales guy said I should wait for the Canon and not get the Vello.

Size comparison for those interested and have the 5D4. Although it is obviously slightly smaller it does not feel small in my BIG hands. Also has some nice weight to it. Without even using it I know the one thing I'm going to love is the articulating screen. My aging body is going to thank me. Crouching down to get those low-level shots can be painful at times.

Congrats!

Wish I was close enough to to do “Store Pickup” from BHP, probably a good thing I am not though...

Thank you!

I work in the city but been working from home since March. I drove down as B&H offers free 1-hour parking with a minimum $100 purchase. I obviously qualified lol

I also went today because I'll be too busy tomorrow and they're closed on Saturdays. I wanted it for a Sunday trip I'm going to take. Can't wait...just wished I had the RF/EF adapter.

Free 1 hour parking with a minimum $100 purchase sounds like such a New York thing, oof.:-|

Haha...NYC is a nightmare for parking. Especially where B&H is located. Right by Penn Station and the heart of the city.

After I bought the R, I didn't touch my 5D4 for 6 weeks. Realized instead of "supplementing" the 5D4 it was replacing it so I sold the 5D4 early last year. Good news for folks wanting to buy a used 5D4, prices have plummeted. Of course that's bad news for people wanting to buy one. After a vacation last year when I was constantly switching lenses, my wife told me I should buy a second body so I picked up a second R last December.

I am on the list for an R5, have already sold one of the R's to help pay for it. Trying to decide now about selling the other R and getting R5 and R6 or stick with R and R5.

If I were to buy the R6, I'd go with the STM lens bundle. $1100 for the 24-105mm f/4L is too steep when they are free qtly on sale for $900.

The RF 24-240mm is a hell of a "consumer" lens, I imagine the 24-105mm STM is worth the $300.

I purchased the R last September and sold my 5D4 because I knew the price would go down.

Been busy this morning but during my "lunch break" I tested the "macro" functionality of the 24-105 STM. It's called Center Focus Macro (external link). And much to my surprised looked pretty good! It even picked up all the dust attached to it LOL!

I decided to order the R6 STM kit. It will be here by the end-of-day Tuesday. I'll report on the Vello adapter shortly after that.

I went back and forth between the R5 & R6, I'm going with the R6 and RF 800mm f/11 combo for birds (eagles) for now and using my 5D IV for landscapes, love that camera.

Here's a link to the photos I took today with the 24-105mm STM.

https://photos.google.com …RUXhRdU5Qdk5aYmV3aVV4TUdn (external link)

To say this lens in underwhelming is an understatement. My iPhone takes better pics LOL!

I basically paid $300 more for the body because I will NOT use this kit lens. The R6 will collect dust because the EF to EOS R adapters are nowhere to be found. And I mean nowhere! eBay has'em but they are charging a premium. Control ring are over $400. Basic one close to $300. They’re price gouging because of the lack of availability. Hindsight being 20/20, I should have waited 'till both the Body only and adapters were in stock. That's what I get for being impatient.

Its a shame because I have no idea how good this camera is. I am seriously considering returning it and wait. Who knows, maybe when stock is not an issue I'll spring for the R5. Some of the pics linked are heavily cropped and 45MP would be great for those occasions.

Anyways, let me know what you think of the photos. Some of my editing helped, but the rest were trash!

Look very sharp to me, at the screen size anyway. Your phone must really do a great job if it's better than those.
