I have recieved my R6 today. I was having some buyers remorse while I was waiting for it and it disappeared amost immediately once I started using it.
Fantastic bit of kit and the eye AF is mindblowing. Happy days

I've been shooting with the EOS R6 for about 3 days now. It's gorgeous. Image quality is one thing, the mechanical performance from the camera is another. Yet in this instance: both image quality and camera performance are exceptionally good. A very enjoyable camera to use and a very capable one with all the whistles and bells that you might want on a definitive photographic instrument.

I used the Canon R6 with both the EF 100-400mmL II USM lens and the RF 85mm f/1.2L USM lens.

I'm just shooting in JPEG but you can see some samples from yesterday. Let me know if you want me to post more.

* I'm afraid that this website STILL hasn't added the EOS R6 or the EOS Ra to their camera database... nor the Canon RF 85mm f/1.2L USM lens.

* I have just put in a request for these items to be added to the Gear List.

Just mucking around in a dark room in front of the TV.
Two photos SOOC to show ISO performance, absolutely nothing done to them. AWB and underexposed 1/3 of stop.
Let me know what you think

Here's a link to the photos I took today with the 24-105mm STM.

https://photos.google.com …RUXhRdU5Qdk5aYmV3aVV4TUdn (external link)

To say this lens in underwhelming is an understatement. My iPhone takes better pics LOL!

I basically paid $300 more for the body because I will NOT use this kit lens. The R6 will collect dust because the EF to EOS R adapters are nowhere to be found. And I mean nowhere! eBay has'em but they are charging a premium. Control ring are over $400. Basic one close to $300. They’re price gouging because of the lack of availability. Hindsight being 20/20, I should have waited 'till both the Body only and adapters were in stock. That's what I get for being impatient.

Its a shame because I have no idea how good this camera is. I am seriously considering returning it and wait. Who knows, maybe when stock is not an issue I'll spring for the R5. Some of the pics linked are heavily cropped and 45MP would be great for those occasions.

Anyways, let me know what you think of the photos. Some of my editing helped, but the rest were trash!

Sorry to hear that. CPW posted that MPB is paying $215 for the RF 24-105mm STM. They are legit, I’ve sold gear to them before. They send you a label, ship it in and money deposited to your account in a couple days.

Could recoup some of the extra cost.

I somehow ended up getting an R6 with the 24-105 F4 L lens right on opening day. Had to drive an hour each way to the store but for that I got one of the only two that came in.

I played around with it a bit and it's great. I mainly do product photography and being outside in full sun I decided to try the full electronic shutter. Talk about complete silence, WOW! The lens is nice and light for a L but it's still kinda big. The smaller body doesn't help that either but it's not that bad and I'm sure I'll get used to it . . . if I can manage to USE the thing!

G.A.S. is fun right up until you realize you're not even close to needing it so I'm having a little buyer's remorse. Thoughts of returning it have started pestering me but not at all because of any kind of issue. It's being fueled by a lack of love for the barely used and still current gear I'm trying to sell, which fills all of my needs for now. I do want full frame since 99% of what I do is product photography with some landscape and portrait shots now and then. I made this work on crop sensor by going with super wide lenses but got caught up in all of the R5/R6 excitement in the other threads and youtube. I failed to fully appreciate how well my current setup works for me right now, especially if I have to give it away. Damned G.A.S. !!!

It looks like all of the stores are now out of stock so if someone HAS to have one right NOW, PM me and see what kind of mood you catch me in. I'm not at the point yet where I would officially list it. I don't want to return it and make the store that helped me out suffer with an open box unit. I won't scalp it for a profit but I won't take a loss either.

My R6 with the 24-105 STM is arriving tomorrow. I don't plan to use the lens. I'll continue using my EF 16-35 f/4 L and my EF 24-105 f/4 L II. My local dealer has the R5 and the RF 100-500 reserved for me, but I don't expect them anytime soon. When the R5 and 100-500 arrive, I plan to trade in a bunch of stuff including the RF 24-105 STM.

Image editing ok; C&C always welcome.

FYI - On August 12, I ordered both the plain and the control ring EF-EOS R adapters from Canon Direct. I got a shipping notice for the Control Ring adapter this morning. It should be here on Friday.

So I had an online chat with B&H this morning and mentioned my frustration with the lack of availability of the EF to EOS R adapter. He understood and created an RMA. I chatted because I wanted to make sure there wasn't going to be a restocking fee. There isn't. So I went this afternoon and returned the R6.

The mrs wasn't too happy because it was a gift from her. But I said when the adapters become available I'll get that first and wait for either a better deal or possibly the R5. Although $4K is not what I want to spend, the 45MP is something I'm considering now, especially because of the crop factor. Okay, I'm ducking now...LOL

Sheesh, and I was worried MY reason for returning (or otherwise undoing the purchase) was extreme! You trying to make me feel better or look less nuts? LOL!

This cat is a moron. I have never met a creature that was barely self aware before. But she is well loved.

Now you sound like my wife LOL! Seriously though, even CanonPriceWatch (external link) posted today "There’s currently a major Canon EF-EOS R adapter shortage". The R6 would be collecting dust as I won't be using it with the kit lens. Am I spoiled by my current lenses? Possibly. And like you, I too got caught up in the excitement of owning one, but should have waited 'til the Body ony and adapters were in stock

CanonPriceWatch (external link) is now reporting that Amazon has a "Usually ships within 1 to 2 months" for the Body Only. And I checked B&H and they now have the "Request Stock Alert" for the kit I bought/returned. I guess they sold mine. Maybe I coulda sold it for a profit...LOL
