Is it just me....but I’m not happy with the service I’ve received from CPS lately. I’ve had either dust or a particles floating around inside my 5D MK4 which is brand new. Less than 4000 clicks on it purchases 5/2020. I sent it in to CPS, they cleaned it sent it back with the same ISSUES. I contacted them this time was sent in on warranty work. The focusing screen was replaced, I received it overnight and I still have the items looking through the viewfinder. They are sharp items. They have to be on the screen, mirror or prism! This camera is brand new .... yes they sent me another overnight shipping tag and who knows maybe the third time is the charm. I bought this camera to use, not sending it in the mail every 3 days. All my lenses check out ok on my 5DsR.... it’s the body.

I’ve been a CPS member since day one and I’m starting to lose faith.

I had the same problem with my 5D IV. There was some sharp particles on the prism after 1000-2000 clicks. I contacted CPS and they just told me it is not warranty thing and I must pay for the cleaning. So I did.

They got rid of couple of small particles and one bigger one stayed there. They said they would need to open the whole body to clean it all and it would cost me a lot more. It did not affect the pictures and they did not recommend opening the body.

I was 99% sure it was some particles inside the body that caused the issue and not any dust outside the camera. Was I annoyed about it? Of course I was. The dot was there for the 4 years I used the body. It did not have any resale effect for the price and I now shoot with the R5.

I've been with CPS about 5 years, and they have been excellent. Well, until this spring. I had a problem with my 100-400 II, and I had to send it in 4 times. It was frustrating because the problem was really easy to reproduce:

1. Set the lens at 100 mm.
2. Try to focus on something in the distance (several hundred yards away).
3. The lens will oscillate back and forth across the focus point, but won't lock on.

I even sent them a video each time I sent in the lens: http://www.lj3.com/LensIssue_May_26.MOV (external link)

It was fixed on the 4th try and it's been fine since. Despite this issue, I'll be continuing my CPS membership when it comes up for renewal.

Image editing ok; C&C always welcome.

I finally can say, after a focus screen replacement, and cleaning twice...... I received my 5D MKIV back. It's perfectly cleaned..... inside and out.

Thank you Canon CPS.
