Have you had that lens for a long time? Still happy with it?

Just a couple months, very happy so far but admittedly haven’t used it much at this point. It has quick AF, good IQ, and at less than a quarter the cost of the Canon I figured it was worth the risk. I’ve had manual focus Samyang and Rokinon lenses in the past and was never disappointed.

I am not a big user of primes, but have had fast 85’s in the past and love the razor thin DOF they provide. Will probably be my go to lens for garden shots of my wife’s flowers.

Tried a couple of 30 second long exposures at my local lake. Lens is RF 24-240 and had on a CPL and 10 stop ND filter.
Any feedback is welcome as I'm a total noobie at landscape stuff. :D

Well, I like what you did.

The colours are maybe a bit excessive at first glance, but with the long exposure and the effects on clouds and water, it makes the images look surreal in a very positive sense, and that is exacrly what I like in these two photographs!

Kind regards, Wim

Wow, you can feel the power in the animal, just looking at the pics. I wouldn’t want to have a close encounter with it! And you were at 140mm with the second shot? Scary!

I was shooting from the safety (and warmth) of the car. This area of the wildlife refuge is open to passenger vehicle traffic, but visitors are to remain in their vehicle, for good reason.

I also was shooting with the 1.4X on the 100-400, so I was as wide as I could go, so this was tighter than I would have preferred.

Spent a little more time with the Sigma 150-600C + 1.4XIII. More misses than hits due to focus hunting, but when it hit, the results are quite satisfactory. It's not a combo I would use for crucial must have captures.

Thank you Wim! I personally did not like the color of the sky (the blue), but my wife did like it, so I went with her judgment as I've learned to do over the past couple of decades! :D

Ah, okay. Still, I think I would also be afraid in a car, but then again, I’m afraid of a herd of cows! I saw them go wild once as a child and the memory stuck... I don’t trust them, tame and sleepy as they look, they don’t fool me! :-P

So the eye/animal AF can not overcome the limitations of the lens?

The Sigma with the extender needs the subject to be in clear view, and even then it may hunt. Today I found the spot focus to be more reliable with that combo. Admittedly, it’s not a combo that is necessarily meant to go together, I attribute it to that. The bare lens works well, but I often just defer to the 100-400 + 1.4 as that combo is excellent.

So I just received R6 in mail on Friday. Attaching the battery grip, I noticed how different the material is from DSLRs such as 5Div or 7Dii. For example the battery door is thinner and lighter.

Has anyone yet exposed their R6 to elements? How does it hold up in snow for example? I have no worries while taking a 7Dii out into harsh weather but should I be more careful with R6?

I took mine out in the snow a couple of weeks ago with the EF to R attachment for my Sigma 85mm ART with no issues. It was actively snowing for the most part when I was up there with the family. The EF to R mount as well as the Sigma 85mm ART is weather sealed so I had a peace of mind.

A co-worker asked me to do some pics of her daughter and daughters boyfriend. It was really cold but they were great to work with.
